Jobs

With all the problems facing our state the biggest one is the loss of jobs to other states. Hundreds of thousands of people are leaving the state who are high income earners and are the owners of businesses being moved to other states in order to survive. As the businesses leave so do the jobs and the resultant tax revenue. It is a vicious cycle with the state losing the jobs and tax revenues and keeping the high expenses brought about by the ever increasing social programs, public pensions and eroding infrastructure.

We must create an environment to lure businesses back to California. People are willing to pay a premium to live in this paradise of a state but they are not willing to give everything they have and be left with no hope for a better way of life for their children or to not be able to enjoy the fruits of their labors. Entrepreneurism needs to be fostered in California so people will once more recognize our state as a place where anything is possible with some effort. That may mean relaxing some environmental regulations, changing some zoning laws, giving tax credits or other creative solutions to enable private employers to see an advantage to investing again in California. Our government’s attitude needs to change so that they see private enterprise as a catalyst for change and something to be supported rather than as a source of tax revenue to fund social programs and feed an out of control government.
